editI'd like to mention that men were often banned from waulking sessions, but I can't figure out how to make it flow reasonably well. Any ideas? Ruaraidh-dobson 21:24, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Why don't you just add what you want to say, and we can help you with it. If you think it's too unformed to put directly in the article, just post it here on the talk page and we can whip it into shape and then add it. :-) Slàn, - Kathryn NicDhàna ♫♦♫ 16:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Where does the information that the last true waulking was held in the 1950's come from? Nennius 5/7/07
"The last domestic waulkings in the Hebrides are said to have taken place in the 1950s" - "The complete Guide to Celtic Music" (2000) by June Skinner Sawyers, page 104. Ogg (talk) 00:10, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Nennius 16/2/08
It was my understanding that the process of waulking used the communal urine of the women involved, as a means of setting the vegetal colours into the cloth. Why is that not mentioned in this article?

- Because this is about waulking songs. The gory details you're looking for are all there on the page on waulking. Akerbeltz (talk) 10:25, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Sung in the Gaelic language
editI've never heard of waulking songs being sung in any language other than Scots Gaelic, so I've added this in to the article (in the first sentence). If anyone else knows differently, delete my change, and please add in your source for non-Gaelic waulking songs.
