Abreuvoir and Watering trough edit

Are Abreuvoir and Watering trough the same thing? if so, the articles should be combined. If not, it would help if the articles explained the difference. עדירל (talk) 07:34, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I can't see a difference, at least the difference can't be great enough to justify separate wikiedia pages, compare c:Category:Abreuvoir, Watering trough should be merged into Abreuvoir. --Hufkratzer (talk) 18:06, 29 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Disagree. Abreuvoir is fresh water fed by a stream, they can be a simple cobbled area of a stream in which animals can stand to drink or the stream can enter a trough, the excess water flowing on down the stream. A Watering trough is normally a container that is filled with water from containers or a well, maybe using a pump and is not normally fresh water as the water is stagnant within the container. The two subjects are distinct and should not be merged. Ânes-pur-sàng (talk) 11:27, 30 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Disagree : a watering trough is an open boxlike generally trough-shaped or tub-shaped watering container made from stone, concrete, wood, metal [1] or other materials [2] ; abreuvoirs are cobbled or larger masoned constructions (see above) combining watering, bathing and footbathing functions (see abreuvoir combining a drinking fountain with a traditional watering trough and a footbath for hoof-care).
Watering troughs and abreuvoirs are both artificial watering points, but forms, materials and extentions are not identic. I agree that both articles should explain the difference. --Bohème (talk) 14:03, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
