DYK edit

The hook reads:

"...that Australia, the driest inhabited continent on Earth, is also a country with one of the highest water consumption in the world?"

I know 'water consumption' is a link, but it reads funny. Should it be rephrased? Just a thought.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:33, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please feel free to suggest new hooks for DYK at Template talk:Did you know#Water supply and sanitation in Australia. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 05:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, maybe the facts would give us a clue. Is this figure per capita, per sq km, etc?

Here are some rough suggestions:

Did you know that Australia is one of the driest inhabited continents on Earth, yet its water consumption demands are among the highest.

Did you know that although Australia is one of the driest inhabited continents on Earth, its water consumption is among the highest.

...driest inhabited continents on Earth, it consumes more water... (can a continent consume water?)

Did you know that the water consumption of Australia is among the highest in the world, even though it is the driest continent on Earth.

Did you know that Australia's water consumption is among the highest in the world yet... --Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:11, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Structure of article and lead section edit

Simply pasting the section on water resources in the lead section does not do a good job at summarizing the article. I suggest that someone writes a concise lead section covering all aspects of the article and moves the section on water resources back into the main text.--Mschiffler (talk) 10:09, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

responsibilities edit

The focus on individual cities is problematic as it leaves water supply out for most of the country! I would suggest using states and then further subdiving these e.g. NSW - Sydney has Sydney Water as a bulk water authority, Most other municipalities deal with water supply on an individual basis, however, there are some regional bodies including county councils etc etc.Yendor of yinn (talk) 06:19, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Adding information about wastweater reuse edit

I am planning to move information about wastewater reuse in Australia from the article on reclaimed water to here (see this piece). Would that be OK by you and if yes, where exactly should it go? Note I have already done it for the articles on the U.S. and South Africa. I was wondering if you want to have a standardised location or standardised heading for it? I've moved the information into this article now. Please take a look. EMsmile (talk) 23:09, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

And "WWTP" is ? edit

it's wastewater treatment plant. I'll check if the abbreviation is not explained and correct it. EMsmile (talk) 14:47, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
