Talk:Washington Monument (Baltimore)

The claim to being the first Washington Monument is in error, I think. There's another one in Maryland that was completed in 1827, 2 years prior. Washington Monument State Park History has the MD Department of Natural Resources history for it. There's a similar problem at the listing page Washington_Monuments_(world), which also claims that the Baltimore monument was first.

Since this invalidates the major claim to fame for the monument, this may involve some bigger changes. I'm a bit too new to Wikipedia to know how best to fix this one. Anybody else? Mlwilson 06:13, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

...and I've at least added the verify source tag to the claim to being first. Mlwilson 06:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have added clarification that it was the first monument to be planned if not built. --Jdurbach 16:33, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Concerning the claim that this monument is the one on the official seal of the city, I was always under the impression that it was the Cecilius Calvert monument on Calvert Street that was on the official seal. Boyghost (talk) 13:50, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's not the Washington Monument and i know of no Cecilius Calvert monument at least on Calvert. The one that is used on the seal of the city and the flag is the Battle Monument which is on Calvert between the two courthouses. This monument commemorates the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812. Also the "The Monumental City" nickname, not slogan, has less to do with the Washington Monument then it does with the number of monuments in the city. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 01:45, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page edit

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
