When was Washington the capital of the state? I had thought the capital moved from Natchez to Jackson.

Thanks.

Why isn't there more detailed history on the population, economy etc., and references on this important region? Why is there no doucmentation that this was a MAJOR slave plantation and refuge? This is American history, and these historical facts need to be known.--74.229.102.208 (talk) 20:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mississippi Archives has several articles on Washington, MS including that it was the capital of MS in the 1800's. It moved from Natchez to Washington in 1802 to because Washington was a booming town with a huge timber operation. There was a vote to move the capital to Jackson, in the central part of the state in 1815 but the capital did not actually move until 1822.Rosetiger (talk) 21:52, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Any population numbers? edit

The article doesn't have any current or recent population numbers, and I can't immediately find any with some cursory google-grade research. Does this unincorporated community have defined borders for census purposes, or is this necessarily going to be imprecise? If estimates even exist in any usable source. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 04:54, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

What happened to result in its being unincorporated? edit

What happened to Washington to change it from a thriving community into being unincorporated? 170.103.116.191 (talk) 20:44, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
