Breaking this article into 2 or even 3 separate articles

edit

Hi. I wanna propose for this article to be separated into two (or three) new articles. My justification is that Warsaw Main Station (Warszawa Główna) was a name for three different stations throughout history. First one, begun being built in the 1930s and was destoryed by Nazis in 1945. It was located in place of current Warszawa Śródmieście railway station in Downtown. Then, the second station named Warsaw Main was opened a few months later, at a new location, placed to the west, in Wola (Czyste neighbourhood). It was very provisional structure, that over time was forgotten about, mostly being closed in the 1960s, and completely abandoned in the 1990s if I remember correctly. And there is a third, modern station, that was opened in 2021. I think it was built in place of the second station, though I'm not 100% if it's exactly the same. They might be in two different places. As such, I think there should either be two new articles, one for original station in Downtown, and one in Wola. Also, I'm wondering if the one in Wola should get two separate articles, for the one from the 1940s, and one from 2020s, or for them to be combined into one larger article. I think maybe somebody with better expertise on Polish railways history, could give their opinion? Also, I think the issue with the article as it is for now, is that it makes it look like Warsaw Main Station is a former thing, while it very much operates today in a new building. Hi, I have recently started working on this matter, to avoid confusion and build comprehensive, properly referenced articles. But it may take a while. There was actually another station named Dworzec Główny (Main Station) in Warsaw, the first station in the city — Dworzec Wiedeński (Vienna Station), terminus of the Warsaw-Vienna railway. I propose creating following three articles:
  • Vienna Station in Warsaw — bulid 1845, demolished in 1920s and 1930s;
  • Main Station in Warsaw (1938–1944) — build in 1930s, unfinished, destroyed in 1944;
  • Warszawa Główna railway station — operational 1945–1997 as Warszawa Główna Osobowa (Warsaw Main Passenger [station]), re-opened in 2021.
I am currently reserching the first one, as I'm notr quite happy with Polish Wikipedia references, and chose to write about them in a chronological order. But until then maybe some reorganising in the naming is needed to avoid reeders' confusion.
Also note, that despite the naming, the main railway station of Warsaw is Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central) since its construction.

Hi @Antoni12345, thank you for your response, and helping in the matter. I also wanted to write about Vienna Station in the past, but never got around to do it, and didn't really know where to search for sources. Tell me if you gonna need help with anything, I would be glad to help :) Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:03, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, I noticed from your user page, that you also like writing about Warsaw. I'm actually trying to improve English Wikipedia coverage of the city. If you ever would like to collaborate or anything, just let me know :) [if you wanna of course] Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:20, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
