Article cleanup (2021) edit

Stumbling onto this article I noticed many broken links, an unclear citation style, and outdated sources. I went through them and did my best to cleanup the broken links by finding archives or fresh sources. Some of the sources still have information that has changed much, and some of the information (like the historical places records, which rotted) I could not find. Another issue is that this article uses many primary sources (mostly appropriate, but it is still original research). It was difficult to find secondary sources, but work to do so needs to be done, I believe. I think the article is not worthy of deletion because of its notability, but I tagged it to be improved.
