Note: I believe that the source of this, the The MacTutor History of Mathematics archive at University of St Andrews Scotland has a license compatible with GFDL, since it states: "We are very happy for you to use anything we have put together provided that you keep our names as authors on the bottom and if it is to be used on the Web include a link back to us."
