Before deleting this, ponder honestly how many nominees for this office, in any state, from either major party would have such an article deleted. Also, measure (if you can) how many links to this article exist (or how many times the name turns up on Wikipedia due to links that were erased later). This person was the major party nominee for the second highest office in a state. There's no way that's less significant than the hundreds of articles that exist on Wikipedia about minor fictional characters from the likes of the Star Trek or Star Wars realms, among others.
