Restoration fabrication

Recent edits have suggested that the line is to be restored by the Mid-Norfolk Railway. This station lies beyond the site of Fakenham East, which has been redeveloped as housing. The route northwards through Fakenham has also been developed for housing, and a new estate has been planned to be built on what remains north of the town. The MNR does not intend to restore Fakenham East, let alone demolish a swathe of Fakenham in order to reach Walsingham. The Fakenham plan would see the line either initially restored to a temporary station close to the site of Fakenham East, or to a final new-build station closer to Fakenham West. Neither original station would re-open as both sites have been redeveloped. The track-bed has only been afforded protection as far as the proposed Fakenham station sites.

The only plan to run trains through this site was a consideration by the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway to extend back to Fakenham. This plan was dropped due to the complicated land-ownership issues and high costs involved. The WWLR also considered running back into the site, but the cost of a railway Works Order made it uneconomic. If third-party sources for these, other than speaking to the owner of the WWLR as I did, can be sourced then this could be added to the article.
