Notability (2022) edit

So I looked for sources that discuss this school in some capacity, beyond a trivial mention. Also, this is just what's available online. Obviously that's not the definitive answer to whether or not sources exist, but I'm not going to say "sources may exist". This is what I found:

I think these sources could be enough to meet Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Thus, I'm removing the notability tag on the article. Feel free to discuss this here if you disagree and think it should be re-instated, or to start an AfD discussion. Clovermoss (talk) 04:29, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Major revision (2023) edit

As more Actiana yearbooks are accessed, the school population, curricular subjects, etc. can be expanded. Mapping teaching subjects to allow for any trends or focus mirroring community or national needs such as agriculture, industry, changing technologies.

Demographics edit

Insufficient detail to hand (so far) to identify student M:F sex ratios (now M:F:X), percentage First Nations, percentage graduating, or percentage of students going on, and completing university.

School ranking edit

The 'right-leaning' organisation Fraser Institute produces an annual ranking of secondary schools for Ontario based on nine academic indicators derived from standardized provincial reading, writing and math tests.[1] I have declined to add the scores in the article, until more data is collected and can aid context.

As of Sun 31 Dec 2023, the Institute indicates a score of 4.1/10 and ranking 634/739 (85.7%) for WDSS, indicating ESL 0.9%, special needs 46.9%, and OSSLT count of 224.

Year Overall score Notes[2]
2015 4.5
2016 4.4
2017 4.1
2018 3.4
2019 4.1

The Ministry of Education also shows for 2021–2022:

Student Population – 2021-2022 (Preliminary)[3] School Province
Percentage of school-aged children who live in lower-income households 17% 18%
Percentage of students whose parents do not have a certificate, diploma or degree 13% 6%
Percentage of students who receive special education services 33% 16%
Percentage of students identified as gifted 0% 1%
Percentage of students whose first language is not English 3% 26%
Percentage of students who are new to Canada from non-English speaking country 0% 5%
Percentage of students whose first language is not French 99% 95%
Percentage of students who are new to Canada from non-French speaking country 0% 6%

It requires some understanding before any interpretations can be offered (e.g. what does 'special education services' needs mean?). –Q8682 (talk) 13:53, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
