Emphasis on temporary promotional flavours?

I'm going to say that I disagree with the proportion of this page which is devoted to promotional flavours from the last few years - they are not exceptional by any means in all the decades of Walker's crisps, and should only be noted in the 'past flavours' section - they make this article look like an advert. 137.222.222.102 (talk) 12:43, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Nobby's

Frito Lay

This is not the parent company of Walker's, Walker's is it's own brad it is not a subsidy otherwise they would not be able to advertise that they use 100 per-cent British potatose. Thanks! 83.104.51.181 (talk) 18:07, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Walkers is a subsidairy of Frito-Lay which is in turn part of Pepsi-Co just because they are American owned does not mean they can not use British potatoes Penrithguy (talk) 12:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Walkers advert

Does anyone know the year the Walkers advert featuring Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne was first shown? Checked Google and Google Groups, but couldn't find anything. Earliest mention I could find on Google Groups was 1998, but I thought it was much earlier. BillyH 21:43, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

IPod competition

Walkers are running a competition at the moment, to give away one expensive prize every 5 minutes through september

Is that 11M products/per figure for the UK market? If so, it would seem to imply a 1 in 38000 chance of winning, assuming every "product" had an entry code, everyone entered, and the entries were spread out.

Flavours

Walkers market domination

Over the course of 30 years, Walkers has gone from being one of several crisp makers with a regional base (Tudor, Smiths, etc) to being the dominant maker everywhere in the UK. This was mentioned in The Economist a while back as an indicator of market concentration. Surely this ought to be mentioned in the article? ProhibitOnions 10:48, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Agreed - if I recall correctly they were unknown in any part of the country I lived in until the 1980s at least. Presumably the source of the history is partly the official website or something like that, and it's a common fault for such histories to document the company/brand/product's origins then miss out eighty years or something like that. Bacon Fries - only remaining Smiths branded product?

I put this in the article but I'm not sure. I see Salt 'n Shake is Walkers now, so I can only assume so. AFAIK the packaging on Bacon Fries/Scampi Fries/the cheese equivalent that no-one sells hasn't changed at all since they started foil-wrapping them. The Smiths logo looks the same as what still appeared on Walkers crisps and other Walkers/Smiths stuff sold in the early 1990s. I hope they never change :) --Zilog Jones 01:10, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Flavours

The list of current Sensations flavours includes both Sea Salt and Sea Salt With Cracked Black Peppers. The Sea Salt one isn't listed on the Walkers' website ( http://walkers.corpex.com/CR15p5/products.asp?snacktypeid=39 ), although Thai Sweet Chilli still is. Does anyone know which list is correct?

Re-named to Frito-Lays

Vandalism in "Flavours" section

I've undone some old vandalism from this edit by 86.3.250.121 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) on 4 November 2007. The IP has made several edits to this section of the page, and the obvious vandalism has been removed but the list of flavours still needs to be checked for accuracy. —Snigbrook 19:33, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Reduced crisps per bag

Should this go in the history somewhere? I did add it but it was removed, I just assumed it should be in the information about their crisps. Before 2005, packs were 55g ~40g (can't remember the exact volume here), and 27.5g. They are now 50g, 37.5, and 25g. Missing Flavour
