It was released on September 14, 2018, by Guwop and Atlantic Records, and is the third single release from Mane's thirteenth studio album Evil Genius (2018). Does not read well. I would suggest: "Wake Up in the Sky" is a song by American rappers Gucci Mane and Kodak Black, and American singer Bruno Mars. It was released by Guwop and Atlantic Records as the third single from Mane's thirteenth studio album Evil Genius on September 14, 2018.
• The song was co-written by Mane, Mars, Black, Chance Youngblood, Dwan Avery and Jeff LaCroix, and produced by Mars and the latter three under their aliases Tarentino, DY and Tre Pounds. Long run-on sentence needs to be split and "co-written" should be "written" as we don't know that they wrote the song altogether (they most likely wrote their parts separately). According to the Tidal source Mars did not write the song. Dieuson Octave is also credited as a writer but not mentioned.

• "Wake Up in the Sky" is a hip hop, pop and soul song that is "feel-good party anthem" and an "ode to the high life". Needs to be paraphrased.

The issue still remains and reads worse now. Either you need to find a source that better explains the lyrics or try paraphrase this. "feel-good party anthem" and "ode to the high life" are not what we want to see on an encyclopedia especially on a GA. CoolMarc 18:49, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Do you think somebody calling it a "banger" is beneficial to an encyclopedia article? Like I said, it is stan twitter lingo that writers use as a synonym for "song" to get page clicks. • Despite only peaking at number 46 on the Australian Singles Charts it was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). I don't think this is relevant to the lead. It's very easy to go platinum in Australia. I would rather include the more notable The track also charted in the top 40 in Canada, Hungary, Norway and Slovakia.

This is not a long credit list, can you explain how it is complicated to read?

On second thought, I just read the source for the first sentence and would suggest for accuracy that you write: In June 2018, Gucci Mane told Billboard that he worked with who he considered the best producers for Evil Genius to prove to his fans that he is "still passionate about the music". It's needed to clarify that he is referring to the album and I don't think "make them believe he still enjoys creating music." is what he is trying to say here.CoolMarc 20:37, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

• The artists' vocal ranges run from the low note G4 to the high note D6.[18] -> The artists' vocal range spans from G₄ to D₆.
• The single includes Gucci Mane's ad libs above the instruments and a "silky" and "lush" R&B chorus, which is performed by Bruno Mars Use "track" or "song" here as we are not talking about the single release. Does Mane only perform ad-libs on the songs? Or is this referring to the chorus? Sentence needs to be clarified and WP:FLOWERY words like "silky" and "lush" removed.
• soaring vocals" singing a "skyscraping" hook "soaring" and "skyscraping" either need to be paraphrased or removed. WP:FLOWERY words gushing over Mars vocal performance on the song is not encyclopedic.

Any ideas for instead of skyscrap? I mean this is the crtics opinion, not mine.

• Crooning has been associated with "lyrical odes to hallowed crooners" similar to those of "Slow Jamz" (2003) by Twista featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx.[22] I don't think you interpreted the source right here. The reviewer is saying Mane's references to crooners like Nat Cole King and Barry White recall "Slow Jamz" by Twista and Kanye West.
• Lyrically, "Wake Up in the Sky" is a "feel-good party anthem", an "ode to the high life" and a "transcendental" single because it describes Mane's changes.[19][23][24] The rap verses have been considered "boastful" and "sensual".[14][20] Unattributed WP:QUOTEFARM. Please try paraphrase to encyclopedic language.

I can't change high life as they can be talking about drugs or alchool or even both

Critical reception

• Please cut-out the use of the word "banger" in this section, it is stan-twitter lingo and not a valid critical opinion on a song.
• C. Vernon Coleman II of XXL "smoothed-out joint ... that has a spacey feel". Gucci Mane is in "flex mode on his verse". He concluded; "this one is definitely for the young, fly and flashy".[25] First two quotes are more relevant to composition and could be paraphrased for something there. The last quote is a description of the lyrics, not a positive or negative critical view of the song.
• and added, "feels like a Rick Ross song. -> and said it "feels like a Rick Ross song"
• Brody Kenny of Consequence of Sound considered "Wake Up in the Sky" one of the best tracks on Evil Genius (2018). Kenny complemented Mane's singing, calling it "unexpectedly delightful".[22] "considered" was used in the previous sentence, maybe try "regarded". And "complemented" is not the correct term here, it's "complimented". Unlink Evil Genius and remove the "(2018)" as this has been established several times already.
• The Stereogum review is mixed. I would suggest rewording to Tom Breihan of Stereogum viewed the song as "insubstantial" and "a forced crossover-hit attempt", but deemed it "perfectly catchy".
• AXS are a ticket-merchant site with WP:USERG contributed content, do we have any credentials that this reviewer is a professional journalist and music critic?

• Evan Rytlewski, writing for the same publication, praised the collaboration for not playing safe, unlike the rest of the album.[13] He didn't really praise the song. He called it "prim" and said that it's the only track on Evil Genius that eschews "of-the-moment trap".
• Neil Z. Yeung of AllMusic considered the single to be a "smooth break" from the "menacing production", putting "seduction into the mix".[27] could be clarified better to Neil Z. Yeung from AllMusic descibed it as a "smooth break" on the album that adds "some seduction into the mix".
• Jordan Bassett from NME said the recording is Mane's "most commercial", lauding his "undeniable euphoria". "undeniable" is not quoted from the source but paraphrased. There is a lot more critical opinion in this source as well to expand on... Maybe try something like Writing for NME, Jordan Bassett felt the song "shimmers with a lush R&B hook" and commented, "This is the most commercial Gucci's ever sounded, but could anyone deny him his euphoria?" Unless you could paraphrase it better?
• In a mixed review, Randall Colburn writing for Consequence of Sound complemented Mars' vocals and his "arena grandeur" but criticized Black's "sneering flow".[1] not really a positive or negative review here, but a description of their vocals and rapping. "Sneering" is not a criticism in rap.
• In a negative review, HipHopDX's Daniel Spielberger said the collaboration was a great concept that was "destined for crossover appeal" but does not create a proper "groove" and never reaches "the joyful, soulful vibe of an all-time classic".[28] Rather keep it concise and stick to the point -> In a negative review, HipHopDX's Daniel Spielberger wrote that the track "never comes into a groove and fails to achieve the joyful, soulful vibe of an all-time classic."

• Previous to the release of the music video the song had peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.[21] The source just says it peaked at number 18 when it peaked at 11 in the next sentence, I'm not sure what you are trying to say here? Please clarify.
• and matched Mane's high peak as a lead artist of "I Get the Bag" (2017) featuring Migos. -> tying 2017's "I Get the Bag" as Manes's highest-charting single as a lead artist in the US.
• How many weeks did it spend on the Hot 100?

• There is a lot of "It peaked. It peaked" in this second half of the section which makes for boring reading. Maybe mention one concise sentence saying it charted in the top 40 in XYZ countries, and peaked at number 65 on the UK Singles Chart.

MarioSoulTruthFan, I see a lot of sources mentioning that this was the first song Black recorded after being released from prison in August 2018 for a number of felony charges. @Coolmarc: I'm only familiar with Mars' work not Mane or Black's discography. The only reason I didn't included was Wikipedia:Handling trivia, but since he mentiones it in the lyrics, on the other hand they do that all the time. Mario, we are almost done here, please see my one comment about Credits and personnel, I think the section is redundant with only writing and production credits (and 1 mixer) already mentioned in th infobox, lead and background sections. Unless you have the full credits and album booklet somewhere? CoolMarc 16:44, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
