Latest comment: 8 years ago by Joeedh in topic Exit code cache?

wait system call is executed by parent process to collect exit status of child

This page is very UNIX-specific. It should be written to reflect that instead of talking about any "modern operating system". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.184.103.10 (talk) 07:13, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Zombies and orphans

Half of the text in that section is complete nonsense and needs a fix. How could this text slip into WP? Schily (talk) 12:50, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Exit code cache?

edit

In my own little OS I use an exit code cache instead of zombie processes and a reaper process. When a process exits, it saves its pid and exit code to the cache, which is read by the parent process. Is there a mainstream OS that does that (in which case it should be mentioned in the article)? Joeedh (talk) 11:45, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
