A waffle is a dish made from leavened batter or dough that is cooked between two plates that are patterned to give a characteristic size, shape, and surface impression. There are many variations based on the type of waffle iron and recipe used. Waffles are eaten throughout the world, particularly in Belgium, which has over a dozen regional varieties.[1] Waffles may be made fresh or simply heated after having been commercially cooked and frozen. Waffles may also be considered, pancakes with abs. Demon spitz (talk) 03:09, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Doubt there are going to be any reliable sources that refer to them as pancakes with abs WikiVirusC(talk) 13:41, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Edit request for Scandinavian waffles
editThis edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The section on Scandinavian waffles should be clarified in that the waffles are round, not heart-shaped, but each slice is in the shape of a heart ( https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil:Waffle_Maker.jpg ). Swedish wikipedia has source referenced this ( http://naringslivshistoria.se/bizstories-nyheter/history-marketing/vafflan-och-vaffeldagens-historia/ ) to the installation of cast iron wood stoves with round holes in the 1800s, which makes sense considering the size and history of Scandinavian style waffles. The article also states they're sweet, but it's important to differentiate the batter and toppings: the batter itself does not contain sugar, in contrast to american or belgian style waffles, but the toppings are by tradition sweet (jam, sugar, etc.). 176.10.252.166 (talk) 17:38, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Reference review
editI don't know if this is the proper place to ask this, but could anyone verify reference 109 (Sozer, Nesli; Kokini, Jozeph (2009). COMBAT RATION NETWORK FOR TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION. THE CENTER FOR ADVANCED FOOD TECHNOLOGY: DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY.)? I couldn't find a single result on Google linking the Defense Logistics Agency and the authors mentioned in the reference. I found two documents by that title, but neither mention those authors, and neither mention waffles from what I could see. David Santos (talk) 21:18, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Review required
editThe final section 'Shelf stability and staling' appears out of context and reads like it has been lifted verbatim from a longer piece. 220.235.44.65 (talk) 10:41, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Agree, just noticed this myself. It seems to be talking about results of an experiment, but the experiment isn’t described. And even if it were, this subject matter is not important or relevant to understanding what waffles are. 207.96.136.14 (talk) 01:54, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
brussels waffle
editA waffle recipe website, now offline, is the worst source to credit the invention of the Brusssels Waffles as a mystery Tomaatje12 (talk) 20:12, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
