"Nobody messed with Lady Alys Vorpatril."
Not so. Nobody with a clue about the Vor did - but someone without a clue, far later in the series, does indeed mess with Alys. Alys isn't in this book enough to justify this phrase.
It does explain why she becomes such a micro-managing woman, though. -grin- Poor Ivan.
