Improvements needed edit

I've had a bash at copyediting this but it's very much a work in progress. I have no knowledge of the individual or the subject area and I think a more in-depth edit needs to be performed by somebody with understanding of the area (and ideally, ability to read the raw source materials).

My main thoughts around areas for improvement are:

It is unclear why this individual is notable; the lead says he's known for authoring a book, and the main article then proceeds to say nothing about this but focuses on his political affiliations.
I have arbitrarily broken the article into sections to avoid a wall of text, but these are unlikely to be ideal.
This article would benefit from more links to help explain context, but the ones I'd like to add don't exist. It's possible that this is the result of poor original translations from the source material; the syntax of the translation suggests an auto-translate.
