GA Reassessment edit

In order to uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of September 10, 2008, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR. This is an interesting and nicely illustrated article, but I'm afraid that it doesn't meet the GA Criteria:

  • It does not address the major the major points of its subject. Is there nothing else to say about the geology of the area for instance? Is it close to any centres of population?
  • Units of measurement need to be dealt with consistently. Sometimes imperial measurements are given, as in the infobox: "Colima volcano from 33,000 feet ...". Sometimes metric measurements ares given: "... with approximately 25 km³ of debris travelling some 120 km ...". And sometimes conversions are given: "... reached heights of 5 km (>3 miles) ...".
  • There is an external link in the Current activity section. External links should only appear in the External links section, not in the body of an article.
  • The pictures in the Gallery should be moved to WikiCommons, and a link provided. Wikipedia isn't a picture book.
  • The article should use consistently either British English spelling (as in "travelling"), or American English spelling, as in (neighboring").
