Hello! Anyone watching this page? I have a feww suggestions for additions, but given the good quality of writing as it stands I would not like to spoil the text

Here they are

  • Possible mention of Vossloh's aquisition of Alsthoms Valencia plant and hence Euro 3000/4000 diesel electric type of locomotive - causing Vossloh to cease being a potential candidate for high power transmissions ref here [1]
  • Intended market is cross border freight - avoiding 'complicated' multivoltage locos - reference same as above
  • Loco as a technology demonstrator - same refereence
  • Quote "This effectively put an end to plans for the MaK3000 locomotive, which would have been a Vossloh design with a 20-cylinder engine driving through a Voith transmission. The two companies are now following separate paths for the high end of the market."[2] I'd like to mention this but don't know if a MaK3000 is simply journalistic speculation or was ever planned...
  • Also note that Voith quote that the designers have over 1000 years of railway experience between them and the loco was designed in 500 days - from somewhere on voith site - can source if neccessary.

Suggest all the above for the "History" section - giving further background to the reasoning behind and development of this loco.

Comments edit

  • curious that both the 30 and 40 models show the same tractive effort (perhaps an error on website) when voith state:

This shows the high potential for future development. As far as the output is concerned, the only thing stopping us at the moment is the diesel engine--otherwise the transmission could achieve an even higher performance range. (...Turbines could be a future solution for much greater engine power...)[3]

it seems that voith regard the engine as the limiter - not the transmission?? eh? - so surely the 40 should have higher tractive effort - it should weigh more too?
  • Removed criticism section - if replaced please cite - and be more specific.
