English or Slovak article title? edit

Hi, are there any sources in English establishing "Voice" as the common use title? The Slovak Spectator uses "Hlas" [1], and that seems definitely more recognisable to me. Jdcooper (talk) 15:00, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found these sources: 1, 2, 3, 4. Bedivere.cs (talk) 13:47, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I did a quick survey a while back, it seemed roughly half-and-half. Certainly Slovak people use "Hlas" when talking in English, as far as I'm concerned that's the name of the party. I think our article should reflect that. Jdcooper (talk) 18:28, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Ideology: Populism edit

@Jdcooper In this edit, you have removed the tag Populism from the infobox, reasoning that 'unsourced and "populism" is very poorly defined at the best of times)'.

However, as of now, the introductory section contains the following sentence:

"Voice – Social Democracy has been described as a catch-all party[1][2] of a populist nature,[3] often reluctant to take positions opposed by a significant segment of the electorate.[4]"

This sentence, sourced by four citations, sort of sources and justifies the "Populism" classification of the party, does not it?

If you or anybody else still insist on not listing Populism in the infobox, please do specify another reason than "unsourced" because the claim has been, in my view, properly cited.

Hi @Alpyn:, thanks for opening this discussion. The ereport.sk citation, if it is a reliable source (I have no opinion on that as I don't know the background on Slovak sources) merely accuses Hlas of "resorting to populist tactics". To me this isn't enough to support the claim that Hlas's ideology is "populist". Not saying that Hlas is not a populist party (which Slovak party isn't?), just that the source doesn't establish that. Hey @Jdcooper, I dug deeper into all of the provided resources, and I agree with what you have said. Populism is somehow being addressed just in the ereport.sk article, where the following statement of a sort of reputable Slovak political commentator, Mr. Meseznikov, is quoted (poorly translated by me): "This is a recurring theme of Slovak national populists, from Mečiar to Fico. They have tried to organize motions to change the power relations several times."
So yeah, it is just an indirect statement; a bit of whacky to cite that information as an ideology for the Infobox.
By the way, by reading your profile, I assume you are not native to Slovakia. If so, I very much appreciate your participation in the Wikipedia articles about the contemporary Slovak politics. Of course, the locals' contribution is fantastic. However, it's more than handy to get the point of view that isn't that skewed by preconceived notions influenced by lay folks (and political memes!) living there. Thank you! 😊 Alpyn (talk) 04:36, 3 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Color edit

I think the best color for Hlas-SD is a gradient between blue and red from the logo (~   #8A1039). The red color will cause confusion between Hlas-SD ( ) and Smer-SSD ( ), the Republic ( ) and the Good Choice ( ), who also use it. I would like to reach a consensus on the color of the party PLATEL (talk) 07:35, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I find that suggestion to be a perfectly acceptable solution.--Autospark (talk) 14:41, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
