Copyright violation? edit

Er, can we have all that copyrighted material? Isn't this a copyright violation? --Spikey 13:45, 6 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Useless or futile? edit

Is it "Resistance is useless!" or "Resistance is futile!"? -- Éric

"...useless". IainP (talk) 23:52, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
It's the Borg who say "Resistance is futile!". --Ef80 (talk) 14:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the term "Resistance is Futile" was not an original quote from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was actually used well before that show, by another show called Space: 1999. Episode: The Dorcons. Character, Maya, uses this term. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.148.218.141 (talk) 21:12, 31 March 2015 (UTC) Moreover, the borg first appearance was in May 8, 1989 on Q Who, while the Hitchhiker's Guide aired on 8 March 1978 109.186.110.99 (talk). —Preceding undated comment added 13:04, 13 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Move to pluralize edit

Should this page be moved to Vogons? Many (but not all) fictional alien species are titled in the plural. —OverMyHead 00:02, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure? Daleks, Klingons, Cylons, Balrogs and Martians all redirect to the singular. What are your examples for plural-titled alien articles? Vogons already exists, as a redirect - you'd have to ask an Admin to do it for you, and currently i can't see that the move ould get OK'd. Also, the current naming convention prefers the singular, And Vogon doesn't fit the reasons for exception. Totnesmartin (talk) 08:49, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vogon poetry obscene? edit

Given that the poem contains references to micturition and "turlingdromes", is it safe to say that we may be able to classify some Vogon poetry as obscene? (This may be original research, but it does fit the most popular Vogon poem...) Orville Eastland (talk) 00:31, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Obscenity is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? I'd guess that anyone not understanding "micturations" would assume it's a made-up word, like "gabbleblotchits" or whatever. Anyone who does know what it means is probably medically or scientifically inclined anyway and less likely to be offended. Hey, should we go and ask this at Belgium? Need explanation of the Vogon notice for destruction of the earth. edit

As a fighter of bureaucracy I frequently compare the communication skills of bureaucracies to the useless communication attempts of the Vogons, who posted the notice about the destruction of the earth in some remote Vogon filing cabinet, or something similar.

I was going to refer someone to this on Wikipedia, and was surpsied to not find the info.

I guess I might get around to it. But, if anyone else has the time, perhaps this important piece of Vogon/Earth history would be useful to add. :-) RB-Ex-MrPolo (talk) 06:32, 25 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
