Removing politics content edit

I am removing the contents of the section “Politics” — an unacceptable disgrace unworthy of Wikipedia as we know it. Not only because it is badly written and replete with trivialities and futilities (the man bought a car and two places in Italy, and so frigging what? — lots of people do, everyday), but essentially because the aim of whoever wrote it is pure political propaganda at the service of… well, one might say current russophobic trends, if it wasn't for the fact that the bad English and the not-so-discrete and repeated hints at certain political forces in Russia indicate that it has might have been written by someone with an agenda from this country.

Well, I am attempting to erase it.

Propagandist edit

About this

He not only receives such an assessment in articles: "The fate of the propagandist. Vladimir Solovyov: business and brainwashing in one bottle", but also a hero of the song ru:Вечерний М, so that he can compete for the championship of the "main Russian propagandist" with Dmitry KiselyovCarn·!? 13:17, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • A newspaper article and a song - you think that's enough to label someone "the main Russian propagandist"? Please read WP:NPOV, what you are currently doing is neither neutral nor constructive. AveTory (talk) 13:26, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • If there is Propaganda in the Russian Federation, then there must be a people, who make it. Propagandist is a relatively neutral term. You can be a propagandist of a healthy lifestyle, for example.
    • Of course, Vladimir Solovyov is not an "open propagandist" - he himself does not directly admit that he defends the interests of the authorities. But his successes in this field are such that the opinion of him as a propagandist is quite common: prominent faces of Russia’s mendacious propaganda machine: Dmitry Kiselev and Vladimir Soloviev [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7], even students write work on his example.
    • I am not removing category "Russian journalists" based on available sources above - i understand that there can be more than one point of view. In English Wikipedia there is no such strict rules about categories, as in Russian Wikipedia.
    • We can soften the category name if you don't like it - for example "Category:Persons:Russian propaganda" or "Category:People of Russian propaganda". If you don’t like the whole category, you can try to delete it, but do not interfere with filling it with articles in such an obvious case plz.·Carn·!? 14:29, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • It's quite clear what the term means when applied to journalists, it's not neutral. Every notable journalist is accused of propaganda by his opponents, especially at these times of information warfare, and your links to Open Russia, Euvsdisinfo, Brzezinski's American Interest, etc. just prove it. I can also dig tons of articles accusing CNN, BBC, Ukrainian and other hosts/journalists of spreading propaganda, either by their political or geopolitical opponents. You might as well rename journalism to propaganda based on those sources. And an article on propaganda in Russia doesn't automatically calls for witch-hunt, this is WP:PROMOTION. It doesn't matter how you name the category since you distort the meaning of the word for the sake of your political agenda.
  • Just an example: the British propagandists category. Only six persons: Arnold Bennett - Director of Propaganda for France during WWII, Stanley Holloway - director of WWII propaganda films, Charles Masterman - the head of the British War Propaganda Bureau, Ralph Murray - a member of the Underground Propaganda Committee during WWII, George Orwell - war propaganda on BBC, Marcus Papadopoulos - finally, a political journalist... with pro-Russian and pro-Assad views. Again, proves my point. Now I don't care a bit about Solovyov or whoever works on the state TV, but as far as I'm concerned he is neither a politician nor a member of the official state-running propaganda bureau and doesn't belong to this category. AveTory (talk) 15:50, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
How come you tag him as a propagandist without any hard evidence? A wiki page is not supposed to be a tool for bitching other people. We have western media for that.
This is the only reason I stopped donating Wikipedia. It's an open secret that western propagandists control this platform, all the opponent voices are being purged. Gazi.hasan.rahman (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Restoring text edit

I restored the text, removing the links which were on the wikipedia blacklist. May I remind everyone about the 3RR rule, which will be enforced here.

The

tag, suggests that the article section be rewritten, not deleted. So rewrite it if you don't like the article's POV.

Again, the three revision rule will be enforced here. Moscowdreams (talk) 09:21, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I tried to rewrite the poorly written politics section. 15:29, 31 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moscowdreams (talkcontribs)

Solovyov's CIA training edit

"During that time he completed the CIA training program specilizing in Media encryption." - what's the source of this statement? Google shows no relevant results. --5.167.73.71 (talk) 07:15, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Journalist? edit

He is not a jounralist lol. He is a propagandist. I propose we take down that remakr. AXONOV (talk) 10:26, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Solovyov also said that he is not a journalist (1, 2). So we can remove it from the first sentence of the lead. At the same time, we still have "journalist" in the name of this article. I am not sure what to do with that. Renat 23:40, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
How about Vladimir Solovyov (TV personality)? QueenofBithynia (talk) 07:33, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@QueenofBithynia: Sounds much better. AXONOV (talk) 20:24, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Alexander Davronov: I have moved the article to that title now. QueenofBithynia (talk) 16:30, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. AXONOV (talk) 16:36, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Division into "Conflicts" and "Controversies" redundant edit

I do not see the rationale in the division of the content into these 2 sections. They seem to deal with the same issues.

I would merge them and section the material into time periods. Wuerzele (talk) 17:22, 3 February 2023 (UTC) Or one could add a section "Viewpoints" but I suspect it would become a similar near endless collection of quotes.Reply

Alabama? edit

I have heard people talk about him teaching at the University of Alabama. Is that true and if so why isnt it listed? 2603:6011:CF04:9436:288D:A316:59D8:83A (talk) 10:56, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I know this is a late reply. But I've added some information about this aspect of his life. GnocchiFan (talk) 22:48, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Radio Free Europe" insinuations edit

using Radio Free Europe (CIA propaganda source) to imply Alla Pugacheva hit Solovyov in the face is utterly ridiculous, nobody even claimed this and they refused to even claim it themselves (typical "plausible deniability" for fake news). This isn't worthy for a biographical article as it bears absolutely zero weight on anything. 190.195.147.121 (talk) 11:11, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rumors of his death edit

Russian and Ukrainian telegram channels have reported that solovyov was killed by an FPV drone strike, but this is uncertain. I think the wikipedia article should be locked until the rumor is confirmed 77.194.42.107 (talk) 16:24, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Agree. What we have at present is the following video (until Twitter deletes it for showing mangled corpses): https://x.com/the_real_itdude/status/1762519934511247733
Locality is supposedly Klishchiivka, but nothing in this video gives any indication to date or location. The text simply says "this is for [our casualties, expletive]."
If he was indeed killed, it should be easy to tell by the cancellation of his show. It would be a massive case of FAFO, given his notoriety as Russia's best-known "chickenhawk". 19:30, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

So when was he actually seen the last time? Has there been a freshly broadcasted show recently? 2A02:8108:1140:1560:B478:82A7:D38:3A74 (talk) 00:41, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
