Potential confusion about article edit

I think that there is potential for some confusion when reading this article, especially with certain phrases such as this one:

"However, he was the first officially acknowledged son of Mussolini, with his second wife Rachele; his older half-brother was never officially acknowledged by Mussolini's fascist regime."

Does that mean that his older half-brother was never recognized by Mussolini himself? What does "officially recognized" mean in this context? I would guess that that might mean that his older half-brother was considered illegitimate, but I feel like it should be more clear about something like that. It could also potentially suggest that his older half-brother was somehow rejected by the regime and not specifically his father outright. I don't really have any information to verify whether either of those outcomes are true, but I think that what exactly that outcome is supposed to be should be clarified.

Also, I think that something like... 'While Vittorio Mussolini was the second son of Benito Mussolini, he was the first to be officially recognized,' might be more clear in this context.
