Changes?

First paragraph is an ad (unsourced claim of the company being in the top 3). Second paragraph is simple restatement of one piece of negative press. How about using a different petroleum company as a base and write an article which includes companies history, properly sourced claims of importance/significance (per the notability and verifiability policies), and a reasonable amount of 3rd party reliable sources which cover the company in a non-trivial manner (press releases and such don't count). I'll have a look around and see what I can find but, I hope others will do the same. Jasynnash2 (talk) 07:54, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

The first part should be easy to verify from Forbes Magazine; the second I inserted because I copied it from another article I was working on. It probably needs balancing, which I try to do. Bearian (talk) 14:08, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, should be easy to verify isn't the same as actually including appropriate references and sources (BTW it hasn't been remotely easy so far). Jasynnash2 (talk) 14:28, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Updated entry to provide properly sourced claims and expanded entry in an attempt to cover the company in a non-trivial manner.Aadd01

Ian Taylor

The infobox shows the key figure as Ian Taylor wiothout saying who he is or what his role is. It links to a dab page, but none of the Ian Taylors listed seems like the right one. -- Beardo (talk) 11:36, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Business Week says he's the CEO, but you're right that none of the dab entries refer to him. I've updated page accordingly. --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 01:14, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring over founder / possible hoax

A WP:SPA editor, claiming to be one "Henk Viëtor" (presumably not the well-known physician), has several times tried to replace the sourced founder of this company, Jacques Detiger, with himself, making no attempt to provide any evidence that this claim is true. My own web searches have found nothing WP:RS to support this claim, and in fact, there does not seem to be any connection with this person and Vitol from any source older than six months, with most of those leading back to this WP article. Hence, I suspect a an attempt to perpetrate a hoax. If I am wrong here, please provide solid WP:RS sourcing to demonstrate otherwise. If not, please do not add "Henk Viëtor" back to this article, and please do remove Jacques Detiger's name, which is sourced. --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 00:21, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

This source ists both–Viëtor and Detiger–as founders. However, there is no source to support SPA claim that Detiger is not a founder. Beagel (talk) 08:23, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
