Call me crazy, but I had thought that the guideline for a prospective bridegroom's selection of an engagement ring was "a (single) month's salary", not two. But I grew up thinking "de Beers" was just more than one beer...

Surely it can't be that hard to cite even half of this stuff? I have no vested interest in it so I'm not going to, but seriously, does "In some cultures, married people enjoy special privileges[citation needed]" actually need citation?
