The page at Rajiv Gandhi states that he resigned as Prime Minister in 1989 and was assassinated in 1991. However, this page says that V.P. Singh became Prime Minister in 1989 after Gandhi's assassination.

I think Gandhi's page is correct, but am not certain how best to phrase this page. Molinari 22:00, 18 May 2004 (UTC)

'VP Singh has regularly featured on India's worst Prime Ministers primarily because he spread the malaise of caste based reservations by expanding it which compromised on merit and therefore severely affected the performance of Government Departments and Public Sector Companies. Reservations, which until then was just an altruistic affirmative action in the social sphere,suddenly became a powerful political tool with Leaders from different castes clamoring for a piece of the reservation pie, and giving rise to a huge new wave of caste politics in the country.' Is this really worthy of appearing in a wiki? While some surveys(surely with major respondents being among the middle class and the elite) do portray him as one of the worst prime ministers , the part after'...because he spread the malaise of caste based reservations...' seems to be driven by some personal grouse.If his reservation policy is indeed so unpopular, rival political parties would have come up with abrogating reservation as an agenda, won the elections with that mandate and removed the provisions! NOPV disputed , the quoted text from the article seems more like a rant than wiki worthy stuff.
