Who writes this stuff? This article is an argument for peer-review prior to publication. Vesconte Maggiolo was not born in Florence, he did not sail with Verrazzano, did not die of malaria, and did not die in 1530. He died in 1550 or 1551. And his first name should be spelt with an "e" (Vesconte) instead of an "i." With an "i" it is a title, not a name. And so what if Maggiolo's map of 1527 had Verranzano's error? Every map of everywhere for centuries had lots of errors. Jeez!
