Talk:Violence in a Women's Prison

Latest comment: 5 years ago by 68.129.15.71

The 2 Mattei women in prison films are two entirely separate films. Someone keeps putting all the alternate titles for the 2 films onto one wikipage. These two films have 2 separate wikipages, please look at them. They are 2 entirely separate films. If you have a source that lists all the titles as one film, then the source is screwed up badly. There are actually 2 separate wikipages on wikipedia for the 2 films. They are not the same movie.68.129.15.71 (talk) 21:08, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Where is your source suggesting otherwise? The other page barely has any sources. Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:10, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

For years, many reference sources listed these 2 films as one movie. They were filmed back to back, and shared many cast members which added to the confusion. Even imdb has all the alternate titles mixed together, so even they are no help. But now the 2 films are available on DVD and if you just look them up on amazon, you'll see immediately that they are 2 completely different films. I have both movies on dvd, and I've watched them and they are two separate movies. Wikipedia even has them on 2 separate wikipages. I will find references to back it up, but in the meantime, please don't mix them all up onto one page. Here's how it breaks down....

"Emmanuelle Escapes from Hell" was originally made by Mattei as "Blade Violent" (he preferred that title), but the film was released recently on DVD BluRay as "Women's Prison Massacre". ref=sr_1_2

"Violence in a Women's Prison" is aka as "Caged Women" (that was the drive-in title), and that film is available on DVD as both "Violence in a Women's Prison" and also as "Caged Women". ref=sr_1_1_twi_blu_1

But someone keeps listing ALL of the aka's for the 2 films as if they were all alternate titles for "Violence in a Women's Prison". They even list "Blade Violent" and "Women's Prison Massacre" as alternate titles for "Violence in a Women's Prison". How can they think that, since "Emmanuelle Escapes from Hell" is out on sale on DVD right now under the title "Women's Prison Massacre"?? So how can it be an alternate title for "Violence in a Women's Prison" ?? I will try to find sources for this to prove it, but at the VERY least, "Women's Prison Massacre" should certainly not be listed as an aka on "Violence in a Women's Prison", right? I mean, that error is painfully obvious.

And here they are together as a Double Feature dvd......https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Prison-Massacre-Prison-Feature/dp/B00140PKF0/ref=sr_1_7?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1528410584&sr=1-7&keywords=caged+women

The thing is, you need a third party published source to back this up. Honestly, after you were blocked for six months, I don't think you read up on WP:RS. You need published sources. The link I gave to you earlier states what constitutes one. Published sources note the notability of the content, and the reliability. After six months, you add stuff with no sources or add content that is unsourced. I don't know how to explain it to you further and I'm trying to help you as a person who enjoys researching these films, that further addition of content that is not following your sources statement or not from relaible sources will lead you to be blocked again, which I know you don't want. Are reliable sources only printed books, or are there reliable websites that can be used too? It seems every website I find is either wikipedia, imdb or a site that sells or streams movies like amazon. That Italian language book I bought on Mattei lists the 2 films as 2 separate movies, but only gives 1 title for each film (no aka's). I keep getting in trouble because it's so frustrating to me when I see an obvious error on wikipedia and I can't fix it. I'm not going to get involved with an editing war over this stuff because I know I'll lose, and I don't want to get blocked again. So all I can do is call the errors to your attention, and if you want to leave them in place, I'll just have to let it go. Some things I understand you can't fix without a source, but some things (like listing "Womens Prison Massacre" as an aka for "Violence in a Women's Prison" when the 2 films are both out on DVD!) are just so obviously erroneous, I would think a major error like that could be fixed without needing additional sources, since the covers of the DVD cases show they are two separate movies! Anyway, i'm done with it, I don't want to get blocked over some dumb WIP movies. Someone will fix it sooner or later, if we don't. Once again, I'm just trying to correct the errors I find. I want to make wikipedia better if I can help, that's all.68.198.105.199 (talk) 03:21, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to use a website. Before just googling for a source, check out the validity of the website. Is its articles, is it self-published (i.e: a blog, etc.). If you have doubts, ask WP:FILM's talk page. Books that are not self-published are fine, but one thing that is consistent with your edits is that you seem to find "sorta-kinda-almost" good enough information. You are required to re-write information and not copy verbatim, but just keep in mind some of Wikipedia's rules, and not to interpret things a book says. Otherwise, I admire your dedication. Is AllMovie.com a reliable site? Someone has already cited it on this wikipage as a source, and it's been on there awhile. Can I use that?68.129.15.71 (talk) 17:31, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yep. If you have any questions whether you are unsure if a site is reliable or not, try checking out WP:RS/IMDB. Also, try formatting your sources in template:cite web. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:27, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Rotten Tomatoes source was already on another related Mattei page so I assumed it had already checked out as reliable. I only added it because it actually shows a picture of the DVD release case showing the alternate title "Violence in a Women's Prison" under the article heading "Caged Women". I just thought the illustration would be evidence that they were 2 titles for the same movie. I didn't know Rotten Tomatoes was an unreliable source. I have seen it a lot on other wikipages, that's why I thought it was reliable. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/caged_women_198268.129.15.71 (talk) 18:01, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Its better to get something other than an image. There is no information on how it gets the image. Prose is better, prose from with a credited author is better. Honestly, you should probably ask ahead of time before editing since you keep making mistakes which can be avoided. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:20, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't mind asking you if a source is reliable, I just thought you might not want me bothering you. Believe me, I'd rather avoid getting blocked again. I'm getting up there in age. 68.129.15.71 (talk) 18:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

AllMovie edit

Please check the entire AllMovie review (there are several pages to it). It says the two titles that the film was released under. You have to scroll down a bit. I just want to show you I'm not making this stuff up, it's on the review. Please see....https://www.allmovie.com/movie/violence-in-a-womens-prison-v7822/releases68.129.15.71 (talk) 18:09, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to use this URL, then use this one. If its not on the page you link to, then its not going to be good. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:20, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Dvd cover edit

What other information do I need to make the liner notes source complete? I couldn't find any other info on the dvd case.68.129.15.71 (talk) 17:52, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Try to apply Template:Cite AV media. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:20, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
