The 10 billion dollars cost to the US economy and 300 billion to the global economy numbers seem excessive. The source given for this information is Raytheon's website who as the manufacturer of this weapon system are not an unbiased source and no explanation is given for how they came up with this number. I suggest either a different source for theses numbers should be found or the statement about these numbers should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.121.121.55 (talk) 21:14, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Inaccuracies and obsolete reference link. edit

I concur that the $10B and $300B costs cited above seem implausible.

Separately "...during the airlines’ best year ever, they only earned about $600 per flight." seems implausible to me. That was stated by John Meenan of the Air Transport Association as referenced, whereas I'm not studied in this area. But I remain skeptical... Also the reference, 8, is now at https://NationalDefenseMagazine.org/articles/2007/2/28/2007march-dhs-expands-search-for-antimissile-technology. Forgive me but I don't know how to update the reference and am too pressed for time to educate myself now... H Bruce Campbell (talk) 01:59, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
