WP:BRD for image gallery edit

The edit summary for the removal of the image gallery stated "the commons exists for arbitrary collections of images", but there is nothing "arbitrary" about collecting images of items listed in the article itself two paragraphs previously. For comparison, it would be superfluous to collect many redundant photos of the same statue, or to pile up a dozen photos of a single painting (assuming they aren't curated to show different important details, say). That kind of thing should stay on the Commons. Likewise, a baker's dozen pictures of croissants would add nothing to this article (we're not Instagram!). But this gallery collects relevant images without redundancy, and it adds value to the article. XOR'easter (talk) 15:08, 12 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Origin edit

Please read in the Oxford companion to food[1] "The culinary mythology surrounding the Viennese origin of the croissant has been discussed in that entry, but there remains a need to explain the very general use of the term viennoiserie to describe a certain sort of bread and baked goods, though neither croissant nor brioche is native to the city." 45.70.56.229 (talk) 22:00, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
