Vidéotron once held a franchise in West and South East London for a number of years before being taken over by Cable and Wireless. Does anyone have the dates for when this service started, and also when it finished? KrisW6 23:59, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

No idea (was that the same company even?), but I remember they didn't only cover London, they also covered Greenford in Middlesex as I had a friend there who watched ALL the channels without subscription (they were unencrypted on "hyperband" channels, and he had an imported Scandinavian tv set that could receive them... they bet on the fact that almost all UK sets could only receive UHF 21-69, and would supply a "decoder" to subscribers, which was just a tuner to these hidden frequencies). However after a few years, they started to encrypt, probably wise to the fact people were watching for free. The article lists this under controversies but doesn't include any detail as to why the actions could be considered as such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.6.170.222 (talk) 11:05, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
