Something is wrong here. Either the tunnel could connect into Liverpool Central, or its crosses the Northen Line just to the north of the old Exchange station (i.e. north of Moorfields). Both can't be. Christian Schmidt

The plans when initially drawn up envisaged a tunnel curving from Liverpool Central, turning northwards to link to the Victoria/Waterloo tunnels, with a station at the university. It was planned just to create a connection with the Wapping tunnel (and would have been alot easier), however this was ammended to go past the university. Rob Smith.
