Place of birth
Are you sure about his birth certificate. I have looked at [1] and I can't see a single male McLagen born in England and Wales in the whole of the 1880s. PatGallacher (talk) 15:01, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
According to FamilySearch, his birth was registered in the quarter Jan-Mar 1887 in Mile End Old Town, London. This does not contradict the birth date and place of 10 December 1886 in Stepney. McLaglen is the phonetic Dutch spelling of McLachlan, used in most South African documents involving his grandfather Jacobus Petrus McLaglen, but there is one (baptism of his aunt Cornelia Margaretha) in which he is James Petrus McLachlan. Sparring partner Herbert Mahler
In accounts by Sam Dolgoff, Victor McLaglen had a sparring partner named Herbert Mahler who was an Industrial Workers of the World member, likely quite distant from McLaglen politically. This probably isn't worth mentioning in the article, unless there's broader documentation of his boxing career. Not least because it's an account by a single person, which I can't find other references to. (The first reference is worded quite confusingly, and it took me finding the second to realize that almost all of the boxing story was about Mahler.)
