File:VERTREP Composite Pano.jpg to appear as POTD soon

edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:VERTREP Composite Pano.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on April 13, 2012. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2012-04-13. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 20:09, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

A photomontage showing an MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter assigned to the "Dragon Whales" of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Eight engaged in vertical replenishment, a method of supply of seaborne vessels. Here, it can be seen flying between USS Harry S. Truman and the Military Sealift Command ammunition ship USNS Mount Baker carrying a payload of bombs.Photo: John L. Beeman, United States Navy

On land?

Is there a similar name given to carrying stuff about by helicopter while over land?Nickpheas (talk) 11:48, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not in the same sense, really. It's one feature of airmobility, but resupply is normally just resupply on land. Intothatdarkness 21:04, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
