Notability? edit
I'm concerned about whether Renard is considered notable by Wikipedia standards. All the sources on the article are self-published, which is worrying. And the claim that she is the "first post-operative Male to Female transsexual in the world to be recognized by law" (in 1984) doesn't seem valid to me. Are there any reliable sources to back that up? Any claims of notability that are verifiable? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 16:43, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
The Netherlands was the first country in the world that recognised transsexuals and allowed them to change their birth certificates. Renard was among the first Dutch post-op MtF transsexuals whose local authorities changed the sex on her birth certificate. This particular event was never publicized in any newspaper in the Netherlands as Renard and other Dutch transsexuals didn't want to display their medical history in the media. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonathan Blair (talk • contribs) 15:13, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

- "This particular event was never publicized in any newspaper" is a red flag. If there is no way to verify this person or the event, the article won't survive WP:AFD and does not pass Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Are there records outside of newspapers that are readily available (as in public, not private}? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 22:08, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I just received an email from Pantau. I shall contact the Free University Hospital in Amsterdam if they have information about this event. She knows that Prof. Gooren of this university put pressure on the Dutch government to have transsexuals legally recognised in the Netherlands. The new law was accepted in 1985. I don't believe other countries recognised transsexuals before 1985, which makes the Netherlands the first. I understand that we need to back this up. Some internet sites refer to this event, however, working from Asia, it is difficult to get some more substantial proof in the English. Please allow us some time to gather more information on this, otherwise we'll scrap it. Jonathan Blair

Klinefelter Syndrome edit
