Hello,
I want to inquire about the choice of SiobhanHansa to redirect the "philanthrocapitalism" page to the "venture philanthropy" page. Philanthrocapitalism is a term that extends beyond venture philanthropy, and it is technically incorrect to say the two are the same. I think that the philanthrocapitalism page should be reinstated. - I want to comment on the same thing. Philanthrocapitalism is a Marxian term referring to a cognitive dissidence in that the market can amend the problems it creates through charity. Tired time - about [this deletion]. The first line there makes it clear. This nonprofit, that got donations from bake sales, fundraisers, etc., made the bold move of actually investing in a forprofit startup company to try to advance a potential treatment for CF. That is the definition of venture philanthropy. The section has been taken over by critics of Vertex and the whole point of the content here lost. I will fix it. Professor Susan Robertson of Bristol University in referring to GERM: the Global Education Reform Movement pinpoints the principal parties interested in GERM : Pearson (owners of EdExcel, The Economist, TheFT etc. who have moved out of housing and into education), Elseviere as well as “venture philanthropists” including James Tooley, Michael Baiber, Bill Gates. She also identified some key moments in its development e.g. the 2011 International Summit on Teaching Profession which took place in New York attended by OECD and many multilateral agencies but not a single teachers union.
