Name game

edit

Is it worth mentioning that some older people with thick Ukrainian accents call the place Wegrewille? Maybe we should mention the Ukrainian transliteration too: is it Веґревил or somthing like that? Kevlar67 00:30, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pysanka

edit

There is a larger Pysanka in Kolomyia Pysanka Museum, I have changed the article to reflect this. 24.108.58.49 (talk) 18:58, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a source? 117Avenue (talk) 22:24, 12 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I see that Vegreville twinned with Kolomyia in 2018! And it now claims to have the SECOND biggest pysanka! Maybe my words had some effect... 24.108.18.81 (talk) 23:26, 20 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pysanka - Kolomyia IS larger!

edit

It has been proven over and over that the pysanka in Kolomyia is 13 metres long, as against Vegreville's at 9 metres. The one in Kolomyia is bigger! Get used to it! And yet the Vegreville article opens "A large percentage of Vegreville's population is of Ukrainian Canadian descent, and it is home to the world's largest pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg)."

Please stop reverting good-faith edits! Arrecife (talk) 19:46, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Arrecife don't erase other editors comments. You add new comments to the bottom. Also being polite works much better than silly remarks like "Get used to it!" If you want your edits to stick then try adding a source to them. I used your source and added it to the article. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 00:47, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
The remarks I erased were my own, they were out of date. You are right about politeness, I only get like this when faced by obduracy. Arrecife (talk) 00:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Arrecife it doesn't matter once they have been replied to don't remove them. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:05, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
If a pysanka is a decorated egg then neither structure is a pysanka. Vegreville has a metal sculpture and Kolomyia has part of a building, both of which are shaped, coloured and clearly inspired by pysanky. Neither is constructed from an actual egg nor decorated via wax-resist. There are ostrich egg pysanky and one of these is presumably the largest. - toh 21:11, 7 June 2021 (UTC) - — Preceding unsigned comment added by toh (talkcontribs)
True bu that's what reliable sources call them. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 02:06, 8 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
