Issues

This article has numerous issues. It has clearly been created by Himesh84 to push a particular POV. Most of the references provided are highly dubious (Google Maps, amazinglanka.com and Wikipedia). The unreferenced sentence "proves that the Rajarata, the golden civilization of ancient Sri Lanka is spread to south boundary of the forest and found difficulties to established colonies north to that" is original research. The unreferenced sentence "Vanni forest stood as heavy barrier and assured protection to the Jafna Kingdom from natives" is extremely POV as it suggests that people of the Jafna Kingdom i.e. Tamils, weren't natives to the island.--obi2canibe^{talk contr} 11:26, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't think anything unclear in google satellite image. It is just a unedited a satellite view of the Sri Lanka. Satellite image clearly show the green jungle and huge tanks. No Wikipedia references are used as facts. Please raise specifically if any Wikipedia links not reliable.

But it is not. You have missed first part of the sentence. In the first part of the sentence I have mentioned the man made rainwater reservoirs and currently existing ancient ruins to prove the sentence. According to the original research (based on Mahavansa and other reliable sources)this area was part of the ancient "Raja rata" in Anuradhapura/Pollonnaruwa Kingdoms which lasted more than 1700 years until 12th century.

Also you have mentioned that people from Jafna Kingdom are natives.

But it is not. You can find many details from Mahavamsa which has written history of Sri Lanka since Anuradhapura Kingdom. You can also visit Anuradhapura/Pollonnaruwa to see the ruins of the kingdom. Also please refer books in the reference list to confirm the establishment of the Jafna Kingdom

According to the history written in Sri Lanka , Jafna Kingdom become to exist in Sri Lanka after the Kalingha Magha's invade (please refer links under Kalinga Magha) in 12th Century when South Indian Pandyans are extremely powerful. There is no mentioned about any king in Jafna before 12th century. If you know please let us know. But before that, the civilization of Rajarata (Kingdoms of Anuradhapura and Pollonnaruwa) was there in Sri Lanka for more than 1700 years. Even Magha established administrative center in Pollonnaruwa, but he couldn't hold power in Rajarata due to rising power of Dambadeniya Kingdom. Magha had to move with his army to more secure location withdrawing from much more suited Anuradhapura agricultural lands. Magha had to defend his out numbered army with huge number of Sinhalese who established in south of the Sri Lanka. Jafna was more secured due to this huge jungle. That's how the Jafna kingdom was established. Magha and his army weren't native. They are invaders from Kalinga who came in 12th Century.

The Jafna Kingdom was established in 1323 when Pandyans are defeated by Muslims. In 1450 the whole area was bought under Kotte. But when Kotte invaded ,rulers called Vannier/Vanniarachchi controlled the Vanni. That's mean within 125 years (1323-1450) some where Vanni had it's own rulers. I would like to address the issue. But before giving lot of advices in general , please specified the issue.

There were two need citations

• found difficulties to established colonies north to that - removed that part
• Within 100 years of establishing the Jaffna kingdom , it lost the control of Vanni area due to lack of support from south India and rising the power of Sinhala Kingdom in south - changed the section and source locations were given , the phase "It would appear that by 13th century Tamils too withdraw from the Vanni" is unedited and copied directly from the book.

I have answered to all of your concerns in my first reply. If you are not agree with facts please raise specifically. I am live in Sri Lanka. If you come to Sri Lanka you can visit ruins of kingdoms in Anuradhapura and Pollonnaruwa etablished 500BC. Jafna Kingdom was established in 1300 CE after Magha's invasion. Refer Mahavamsa/Chula vamsa which widely accepted as most reliable sources in South Asia.

Also in your last edit you have removed referenced sections. Please don't deleted reference sections. Raise concerns specifically if any.--Himesh84 (talk) 12:24, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
