De Walle, Beetsterzwaag, Friesland, The Netherlands

edit

My ancesters lived on De Walle, near Beetsterzwaag and adopted the name Van der Wal in 1811. De Walle is the oldest levy Friesland. These days only a small ditch on a street with the same name remains. When you look at the distribution of last names on a map, a high concentration of "Van der Wal" can stil be seen around Beetsterzwaag. I do not know if this is pure coincidence or that they are all family.
