Valorant Episode 4: New ranked (competitive) restrictions edit

We have just found that since the release of Valorant's episode 4, they have added more restrictions to competitive queue. The restrictions namely being that users now have to be at least level 20 in addition to the 10 wins in unrated. The link we used as reference: https://upcomer.com/valorant-episode-4-now-requires-level-20-for-ranked

Best of 24/25 Rounds inconsistency edit

I have just discovered there is some inconsistency between reliable sources as to how many rounds there are in each game which may be worth noting to others. Polygon says "Each match has 25 total rounds" [1][2], however IGN and Game Informer claim 24 rounds in a match [3] [4]. PC Gamer claims both 24 and 25 rounds in two different articles [5][6]. So I am not sure how to exactly address this in the article. Regards  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 20:35, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Per WP:CALC, I consider "best of" to be a routine calculation (if it's "first to 13", it's by definition "best of 25" in addition) as there is no ambiguity or potential for controversy. I think including both isn't bad either, but it's definitely not "best of 24" as by definition of "best of 24" there would be no 25th round ever. If sources are saying "best of 24", that's their right, but they all make clear that it's "first to 12+1 rounds" for unrated (not including the recent changes to competitive) - so we should go based on the information the sources present, not their incorrect math regarding the information. If anyone disagrees please feel free to clarify or discuss. bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 19:14, 21 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Screenshot edit

I do not believe a screenshot of this game would meet WP:NFCC because as a first person shooter most of the elements of this game are fairly well and a screenshot is not necessary to understand "abilities" or any other unique elements in Valorant. When official cover art is created, it should be added to the infobox for identification, but until such time I don't believe there's a WP:NFCC case for this article to have any non-free images of the game (I haven't seen any official art that comes close to cover/identifying art, the closest being the beta key art with different agents). Thus, I've removed the request for screenshot from the project rating template on the talk page here. bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 19:31, 21 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Raze edit

Raze is a Brazilian agent.

  • Boom Bot allows Raze to deploy a Boom Bot which bounces off walls and targets enemies if they are in front of its line of sight.
  • Blast Pack allows Raze to throw a Blast Pack which sticks to the first thing it hits and explodes upon detonation.
  • Paint Shells allow Raze to throw a grenade which explodes and creates smaller grenades which do damage.
  • Showstopper allows Raze to equip and shoot a rocket that does a huge area of damage on contact with anything. Souless identity (talk) 12:49, 20 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Several things edit

1. This article needs serious improving. Valorant is the biggest FPS game of all-time in addition to being the second biggest PC game of all-time (which is mentioned nowhere in the introductory body, for some reason;) it should not have a quality rating of C. Some official initiative should be made to this effect.

2. Why is this article Low on the Video game project's importance scale? I just checked the titles the project considers "High-importance" and many of them are much smaller and less culturally significant than Valorant. Personally, I think the rating scale should be revamped entirely, but in any case Valorant warrants at least a place on the Mid-importance tier. In addition, it should be listed (at least) as level 5 on Wikipedia's more general rubric of article vitality. It is more significant than several of the articles on level 4 too, although in this case you could argue it is less culturally significant, so I think level 5 is fine here.

3. Consider unlocking this article; most of the people who are going to contribute to it are Valorant players who are not Wikipedians.

4. The talk page on this article is seriously underutilized. Most topics as popular as Valorant have pages and pages of archives on their talk pages. 216.164.249.213 (talk) 12:30, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I think the quality rating of C is justified as this article is not very high quality nor well written, and does need some serious improvement. I'll try to see what I can do to improve it when I have time. I do believe that this article's importance definitely shouldn't be "low", as it is fairly significant to the video games category. The semi-protection was probably placed to prevent vandalism, but it is however not justified, as the same level of article protection is applied to articles of world leaders such as Anthony Albanese. But yeah, this article does really need a reworking. DJTechYT (talk) 23:03, 20 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Good to hear. I'm down to work on the article too, since I believe your actions should reflect your words. I just thought it was weird that it was so unattended to, and that no one was saying anything about it, so I decided to chirp up. 216.164.249.213 (talk) 18:58, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Premier; missing information. edit

Hello! I am a new Wikipedia editor and have an assignment for my Digital Humanities college class to edit a small part of a page, and am interested in VALORANT wiki page, because I have a lot of experience in VALORANT as I do play for my university's eSports team and coach as well. And I have noticed that the Premier section is just missing a small amount of information.

I would like to request for access to edit, as I do not have access if I were allowed to do this small change.

The information I would like to touch up on is that of recent, in VALORANT you're allowed to start up your premier team at any time throughout the season and the fact that you can have 2 extra players on the Premier Team Roster is NOT mentioned in the part where Premier is. I have an idea as to where to get my sources from, which of course can be discussed to help you admin understand further, if needed.

Thank you. Ctang0aims (talk) 18:45, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
