Could it be possible that the Valley of Jehoshaphat is based on the story of Jehoshaphat, where in the final war he fought in his era was against the moabites and thier many allies at Engedi. Jehoshaphat as King of Judah and the people prayed to the LORD for protection against such a mighty army. The allied armies fought against and destroyed themselves, leaving the spoils to the people of Judah.
