I posted this
editon the Category:American artists' models
- I am concerned about the inclusion of Valerie, Lady Meux here. And there might be others in the same boat. She is a model only because she (or someone) commissioned portraits to be done of her. Surely not everyone who had a portrait or bust of them made is to be included here? Perhaps that there is a Whistler section in the article is enough to warrant her being in this category. Maybe not. But in any case, before I remove her I want to hear from you. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
The real Lady Meux
editThis article needs to be rewritten now that her true identity has been found. Read the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography ("Meux family", updated in 2008): https://doi.org/10.1093/ref:odnb/97889. She wasn't American, she was English, and her name was Susan Langdon. Or maybe we should wait until we're sure that the rest of the world agrees with the ODNB. --Heron (talk) 20:23, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
