I am contemplating whether to add a description of the procedure for those with multiple strictures, and those with multiple misaligned strictures. The pros and cons appear "fuzzy", and I am unsure how much information can be gleaned versus the benefit of any such additional effort. For what it's worth...

In thirty years of practice, I have performed some 730 - plus urethrotomies. The work which I have done with regards to this article mirrors the current standard of care, and the most up-to-date information as gleaned from medical publications. I resisted the urge to include so-called "tribal knowledge". This article now reflects practices common to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Article scope limited to male patients?

I am female and underwent urethrotomy at age 8 due to chronic bladder infections that began while I was in diapers. Post-surgery I took Tofranil for several years. My college roommate received the dilation treatment twice in her childhood, about six years apart. I have been told that urethrotomy is a "fad" surgery and is no longer performed ... perhaps they meant for men?

If no information about the surgery on females is available, the article should be revised to indicate that the info is for males only. Ukrpickaxe (talk) 14:59, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
