Talk:Urban School of San Francisco

Written in the style of an advertisement edit

I've added an Advert template to this page. Be easy on me; it's my first time flagging an article as such. That said, I think it's more than appropriate. Examples:

  • Sentences like "Urban students learn early on how to navigate a culture of collaboration, inclusion and mutual respect" are specifically lifted from the school's own material (PDF link)
  • The lede calls the school "innovative", which isn't substantiated, and is, again lifted from the school's homepage
  • The cost of going to this school is couched in "The Urban School, because it is private and self-supporting", which is a defensive / editorializing framing.
  • Some other superlatives thrown in there:
    • title-winning
    • highly selective
    • state-of-the-art
    • award-winning

All-in-all, there's a lot of copy & pasting from marketing material without citing the source, and a lot of editorializing about how excellent this school is. The school may be excellent, but this article needs to stick to the facts.

General Edits edit

I've made some changes for the sake of clarity. I'm an urban alumnus. I hope that my changes are in keeping with what is currently going on at the school. starkt 13:08, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

3/19/2007: I have added a table (which as been appropriately cited) to condense information. Additionally, a photo of the school (as taken from the school's page) has been added.

It sure looks that way. Going through the alumnis I found at least one article who's sole source was to the fact they went to the school, as well. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:24, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Secondary sources? edit

I'm having trouble finding any WP:SIGCOV of this school in secondary sources. I don't believe independent schools have assumed notability. Anyone able to dig anything up? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:36, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I found this. Not exactly what we're looking for. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:41, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
