In concordance with my topic ban from AFD, I would like to say I feel the mall is notable per long-standing precedent of mall coverage. The depth of coverage given here is consistent with other malls that have been kept at AFD; see Mayfield Mall, Staunton Mall, Original Outlet Mall, Middlesboro Mall, Tri-City Pavilions, et al. If you check the AFD history for those pages, every single one was closed as "keep" due to a level of news coverage similar to what this one has now. The main argument given was WP:ROUTINE, which per the AFDs for Original Outlet Mall, Mayfield Mall, and Tri-City Pavilions to name a few, has been deemed an invalid rationale (and isn't even policy anyway). I also feel the first AFD made no attempt to do a WP:BEFORE under the mall's former name. I get over 10,000 hits for "Monument Mall" on Newspapers.com, including this page alone which has not one, but three in depth articles on the mall's early years. Pinging @Star Mississippi: for their thoughts. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 19:01, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

In hindsight with my understanding of things now, I agree this mall is technically "run of the mill" as was said at the time this page was slated to be deleted earlier this year, but if it were to need deleted, then hundreds of articles on Wikipedia would also need deleted because, by that logic, other malls are equally run of the mill and some more-so run of the mill in my opinion. Ten Pound Hammer reflects the point I made long ago, but in my opinion, his explanation is with way better clarification and referencing. SomeMetroGuy (talk) 05:56, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
