The Population is way off

edit

Way, way off. The town has thousands of residents. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.215.249.139 (talk) 23:56, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, it doesn't. The actual municipality of Upper Marlboro does not include countless households who have UP addressed but do not live in the city. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. Don't confuse it with the CDP of Greater Upper Marlboro. Illegitimate Barrister 12:41, 25 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

Do we really need separate pages for Greater Upper Marlboro, Maryland and Upper Marlboro, Maryland? Toddstreat1 22:49, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, considering one is a legally defined incorporated area with defined borders, and the the other is a unincorporated census area whose boundaries have no real legal definition and who the town of Upper Marlboro has no control over. Otherwise why don't we just merge the articles into the county article, as they are both part of the county or the DC article as both are part of the DC metro area. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 02:23, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, per Boothy. Living and working within the DC metro area, I understand the dynamics of UM (the city) and UM (the CDP). Persons looking up information on the subject would find it more accesible as two.--Sallicio  01:28, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • it may actually be easier to keep them separate, but due to the confusion, rename Upper Marlboro, Maryland to "Town of Upper Marlboro, Maryland", and use "Upper Marlboro, Maryland" as a disambiguation page. (I just went and adjusted a few things that were listed as being in the town that just simply isn't.) • No, the municipality itself gets the top billing for "Upper Marlboro, Maryland" - the surrounding CDP must be "Greater Upper Marlboro" - In fact the census-defined place IS Greater Upper Marlboro, Maryland WhisperToMe (talk) 02:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
There is also the page for the Town Residential Historic District regarding the National Historic Register that could probably be incorporated into the main article. MountainMamasBoy (talk) 22:59, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

The race track

edit

Hello, all,

Is there any reason why the sports car track was left out of the Sports section? The course was important in the careers of many racers, such as Roger Penske.
