Conflict of interest

this looks like it has been copied directly from the website. for example, the first line, "At the University of the Sunshine Coast, we believe the most important asset..." it is obvious that this is from the uni's website, especially the use of the word "we". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dark Devil (talkcontribs) 10:40, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

The article has been posted on behalf of the University of the Sunshine Coast to correct false and misleading information that has previously been entered under our name. How about editing the article using the resources you've been given. to making it encyclopedic, instead of it being a spam-fest. "At the university of the Sunshine Coast", sounds more of a marketing phrase rather than a encyclopedic sentence. This is a Online encylopedia, not a advertising site. --Arnzy (talk · contribs) 07:45, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

to remove the conflict of interest tag, what changes need to be made to the page? I acknowledge that WikiUSC is a university-administered account, but do not see that as necessarily a detrimental thing - we have provided the base information, and encourage others to develop it further. the WikiUSC account exists to monitor the truth and accuracy of submissions, not to administer bias. for anyone to start any Wiki page indicates some conflict of interest - they are interested enough to dedicate the time to create the entry. if someone was truly neutral, would they care either way what content Wikipedia included? regardless, any feedback on improving the USC entry to remove the COI flag would be appreciated. Why is this still tagged COI? It's clean, isn't it? 203.29.106.59 (talk) 03:18, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Re COI-check tag. Where are the issues with neutrality that warrant COI tagging? Article has been tagged but the content has not been changed or reverted - is that not accepting the content is factual, neutral and accurate? 1Audit1 (talk) 03:00, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Reassessment request

Per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities/Assessment: Still a start class. Getting closer to C class, but needs work with the expansion of the WP:LEAD, more lists turned into prose, the external links need to be trimmed and brought into compliance, other external links in the body need to be converted to references or moved to the EL section, and a good copyedit to fix punctuation/footnote errors in particular. Controversy in 2013 - Students and Staff are now required to pay to park at USC

  Resolved

I deleted the paragraph "Controversy in 2013 - Students and Staff are now required to pay to park at USC ...." on the grounds that it is not particularly notable. The original author (UniChaos) restored it with the comment "it is a HUGE topic at the moment so notable at this point in time perhaps to be removed when it is resolved". I still think it does not belong, because of the likely temporary nature of the controversy (as per UniChaos' revert comment) and Wikipedia is not news.

Can I have some other editor's opinions as to whether the paragraph should stay or go.

(If it does stay, it needs rewording for neutrality, and possibly to be moved somewhere other than the History section, but we'll worry about that if there is consensus to keep it.)

This rewrite by 1Audit1 (subsequently edited slightly by me, for grammar) is much better.
