Content about academics/history?

I've been noticing that very little of the UWG entry deals with academic programs, occurrences, etc. or the history of the school. Is there anyone out there that can beef these sections up a bit? Right now they're being overwhelmed by content about student life and athletics. I (and other UWG alumni, I'm sure) would like to see this entry start to look a little more like the entries on many other universities, which would involve a detailed description of various academic programs and topics of academic or historical interest in addition to the large amount of content dealing with athletics and student life. Anyone? Don't the university's PR people do some editing on here sometimes? Nmcrae1 (talk) 08:49, 27 November 2009 (UTC) The wiki states that UWG has been repeatedly rated as among the best by the Princeton Review - not according to the Princeton Review website. Moreover the US News and World Report listing classifies it as a second tier university and rates it as RNP (rating not published) which is anything but a high rating — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ianstuartmc (talkcontribs) 22:11, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Swimming Pool?

I should be more certain about this, considering I'm in my fifth year at UWG... but do we actually have an indoor swimming pool? I don't think I'm aware of it, if we do... - aylad@aylad.com 4 January 2006

-Ive heard they are building one in the new student center.

-I've been through the new student center, and I haven't seen any sign of it. Skyshot 23:25, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

-it used to be in the Health building/old gym/what the new student center is replacing

Swimming pool will be in the new health and wellness center scheduled for constructing beginning next year.

No it won't. I've asked about it specifically and, with the construction now being done next to Gunn, they cannot afford it. It's been put off indefinitely. 160.10.7.109 23:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

The pool is funded as part of the new Health building which is currently being constructed. The expansion of the Callaway building is from a separate allocation of funds.Werecowmoo (talk) 02:49, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Mascot

Why isn't there any discussion of the mascot issue on this page? It seems pertinent and well-needed (especially considering that there's a link to a website for the "UWG Braves" at the bottom of the article). — xanandax 15:41, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Logo Change

I change the logo to reflect the change from State Univ. of West Ga to Univ. of West Ga. I also added a photo of the campus. --Wiki6742 03:27, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Someone needs to update the logo to reflect the new mascot.

Advanced Academy

I would like to thank whoever took the time to make sure that the Advanced Academy was mentioned in this article. Too often we're overlooked. Would Wikipedia pages for Justin and Taffey Barlows, the resident directors of the Academy, be against Wikipedia policies? I get the feeling it would be, as they're not famous people. However, they've been extremely influential in the development of the Advanced Academy. Vancar 19:51, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Its compeltely irrelevant, consideirng theyre completely irrelevant people

Myself and another are currently working to update the Advanced Academy article, as it was very bare-bones. Hopefully, we can bring it up to speed. Ninja Joey 07:55, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:UWGUnivSeal06.PNG

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Greek Life

I don't think this section is needed. It would lead to every student organization needing to be needed. Also, every few weeks someone comes in a reorders them. I assume this is so their frat/sorority is listed first. Ndenison talk 02:51, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Every University has a Greek Life section on their Wikipedia page, and ours should be no different. I am going to update the page in the near future to reflect this need. When you are in a Greek Organization, the one of the first few things you are interested in about a University is whether or not they have a Greek system. Just a thought for non-Greeks to consider. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.91.137.228 (talk) 19:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Major Rewrite (1/2009)

I removed a lot of copyright violations and repetitive material. Seems that an Academy student decided to add something on almost very section. I added references, but more are needed. Ndenison talk 23:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Rick Camp has been deleted from the noteable alumni section because he was found guilty of fraud. I am the Web Content Manager for the university and was tasked to remove his name. If I can help otherwise in any other way, please let me know. JLinebac (talk) 16:43, 16 January 2009 (UTC) Julie Lineback
