Fair use rationale for Image:Dickinson hall1.jpg

Image:Dickinson hall1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Enrollment

I'm changing the number of students from 13,000 to 12,000 because "12,000+" is what is on UALR's website. If anyone has a more accurate figure with citation, please change. 24.144.54.135 (talk) 20:21, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Oak Forest and Guardado

Okay, the statements have been sourced and all the links work.

Anyone care to argue that Oak Forest is NOT crime-ridden and filled with crack houses?

Anyone care to dispute that the university campus is located in that area?

Anyone care to dispute that Patricia Guardado was abducted from across the street and murdered? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.121.96.73 (talk) 19:19, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

99.121.96.73, though what you're saying is factually correct, can you tell me why the top 10 most dangerous universities in the United States only have one sentence of crime statistics listed for the entirety of these 10 pages on Wikipedia? The tone and nature of your contribution is slanderous and negative in a fashion that indicates bias and personal objectivity. Junipel (talk) 18:25, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I am not interested in the "top 10 most dangerous universities in the United States" as you wrote, but did not source. I am concerned with UALR, which is located in one of the worst parts of Little Rock. If you think my addition to the Wikipedia article is "slanderous and negative" then get an arbiter to make a ruling. Don't remove my post again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.121.96.73 (talk) 01:31, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

We probably could use a neutral sentence describing the safety issues, though, provided that it is well-sourced. Placing a whole section does seem undue at this point. ZZArch talk to me 02:35, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

That sounds reasonable. Moonbeam 2012 (talk) 02:51, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Putting this in a "student life" section is fine by me. To be fair, the university and the city ARE trying to improve the neighborhood. In the wake of Patricia Guardado's murder, the university set up a parking lot trolley to encourage students to use campus parking instead of the less-patrolled areas to the west of University boulevard. Putting this kind of information together as the start of "Student Life" section would be a good thing. Moonbeam 2012 (talk) 02:58, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

The edit by Zzarch seems npov. Any conclusions should be available in the sources to avoid original research. Jim1138 (talk) 04:40, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
The source arkansasmatters.com/fulltext?nxd_id=501292 does not contain any reference to UALR: students nor university and is about a mile from UALR. Moonbeam, would you please replace it with something a bit more supportive of the issue? Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 05:51, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Now you're trying to pick apart my sources, Jim1138. Nice. For your information, that source was included for several reasons. It was posted online by KARK, the local NBC affiliate, to make the public more aware of a (then) uncaught murder suspect who was known to frequent crack houses in the vicinity of 23rd and Fair Park. That intersection is about 500 feet from large parts of the UALR campus such as the agricultural department cooperative extension and Curran Conway Field, not by any means "about a mile from UALR" as you put it. The source shows that the local media (and the community) are aware that crack houses exist right outside the university. 99.121.96.73 (talk) 06:06, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, I forgot to sign in just then. Okay, so now I have to deal with Jim1138 and Junipel trying to lawyer me to death via continuing claims that I'm violating WP policy. Hey, Jim: you haven't tried to convince anyone that I'm wrong, have you? Why don't you tell us why you think that UALR and the whole area around it doesn't have a crime problem? Why do you think this is NOT something people need to know?

Hey, you know what would be funny? If Junipel and/or Jim1138 turned out to be working for UALR, and that explained their panicky attempts to get anything unpleasant removed from the article? Moonbeam 2012 (talk) 06:30, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Cheating Scandal section

I have several concerns about the Cheating Scandal section. First, its size compared to the rest of the article gives it undue weight. Second, the title of the section itself is problematic (closer to academic dishonesty and reference padding than cheating). Finally, it needs a rewrite for clarity. 76.125.98.35 (talk) 19:47, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

This section had neutrality issues and negative material about a living person sourced from youtube, so I deleted the entire section as a WP:BLP violation. I don't know anything about this person so I don't feel competent rewritting this article, but someone should probably rewrite this section in a better tone. Alexandru S. Biris

The section about Alexandru S. Biris' supposed fabrication of data was greatly exaggerated and was verging on libel. The only source supporting the statements was this one, which only states that some text and graphics from other sources were used in the papers, without acknowledging copyright. It says nothing about falsified data. The other sources are retraction notices which provide no context as to why the papers were retracted. Quasar G. (talk) 23:54, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

I agree. The source regarding the falsification of data was the study itself, which isn't really evidence. Uamaol (talk) 00:57, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
