Is this article necessary?

edit

There really does not appear to be much reason for this article: the prisoners come and go. For instance, Michael Riconosciuto is currently an inmate at Federal Correctional Institution Terminal Island, San Pedro, California. So the fact that he was once here at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners seems only relevant to making a list. I would say this is hardly within the notability guideline for having an article in Wikipedia. It appears as though the article was begun in October 2007. After two years, very little has been inserted with respect to improving the status of the article from what appears to me to be a STUB (though someone else feels as if it should be START). Unless more information is presented within the next 100 days, I would argue that this article should be deleted. —Dixie Brown (talk) 17:43, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, you say prisoners come and go,but that applies to any prison. I believe this facility to be different and would go on to say it is the most intriguing federal institution after ADMAX Florence.Crepello (talk) 17:47, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Discussion related to this Article

edit

I have initiated a discussion relating to the inclusion of USMCFP inmates in the "Criminals" section of the List of people from Springfield, Missouri article. Please see that article's Talk page for further details. --TommyBoy (talk) 03:40, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notable inmates

edit

In order to make the notable inmates chart more "reader-friendly," I'd like to make it the same font size as the other sections and break it up into several charts organized by crime type i.e. Mafia figures, spies, terrorists, high-profile inmates, etc. MDEVER802 (talk) 20:07, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Should we remove some (or all) of the inmates in the "Others" section? I've never heard of most of them. MDEVER802 (talk) 20:07, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, don't remove them. Generally Wikipedia not based on your personal knowledge of a subject as much as it is reliable sources. All of the names listed in the section to which you refer have their own Wikipedia articles. As for your suggestion of re-organizing and breaking information up into several charts, I think you need to provide a lot more detail and wait for some response here first. I've never edited prison-related articles, so you'll need to wait for opinions other than mine. Cresix (talk) 22:00, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Got it. Thanks! MDEVER802 (talk) 23:27, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Notable Inmates section is so long though. I think it's too long...also a lot of the inmates listed are no longer there. MDEVER802 (talk) 10:38, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

When did the institution shift from being for "defective delinquents" to being for criminals with health problems?

edit

Evidently this happened, but the article doesn't say when. --Eldomtom2 (talk) 22:37, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
